A. LafontGK FC Nantes - 86 - 91 Rated: We saw some fascinating performances from the players between the sticks in the 2021/22 season in Ligue 1. One who stands out for his side is Alban Lafont. Despite not being close to the sides with the best defensive records, the Nantes shot-stopper is still a top-three keeper this season and helped his side to win a couple of close games this season. Hes the second best goalkeeper this season in LEquipes goalkeeper rankings behind Lopes and I honestly have no idea who Donnarumma made it into the official UNFP Ligue 1 TOTS which was released earlier.

J. ClaussRWB RC Lens - 86 - 92 Rated: Jonathan Clauss has continued to progress and impress since his arrival at Lens. Since leaving for Lens in July 2020, Jonathan Clauss has established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 and many are campaigning for his arrival in the France team. As a right wing-back, Clauss has had excellent performances with the Sang et Or and prior to the last matchday he has five goals and eleven assists to his name.

MarquinhosCB Paris SG - 95 - 95 Rated: Marquinhos has been at a fairly high level at PSG for several years now and one of the references to his position in Europe. A much more mature player now, Marquinhos has truly inherited Thaigo Silvas throne. The PSG captain has been brilliant for his side in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this year. The difference with him playing much more games than last season is clearly visible, as PSG reclaimed the Ligue 1 title.

W. SalibaCB Marseille - 88 - 91 Rated: Saint-Etienne youth academy product William Saliba is already a familiar face for Ligue 1 fans, having turned out for Les Verts, Arsenal, OGC Nice and now Marseille after a stint in the EPL with Arsenal and, given his wealth of experience, its hard to believe he still qualifiers as a young player. However, the 21-year-old is all quality and has been instrumental in OMs push for second place and direct Champions League qualification. He has started 36 of OMs 37 Ligue 1 matches this season and, as Jorge Sampaolis most-used player, the France international who earned his Les Bleus debut this season has formed a dynamic central defensive pairing with Luan Peres that has provided the platform for his sides success. He has just been named Young Player of the Season in Ligue 1 and although his loan deal did not include an option to buy, expect to see OM push hard for the move come the summer transfer window.

N. MendesLB Paris SG - 90 - 91 Rated: Making his arrival at the capital at the same time as Sergio Ramos, Donnarumma and Hakimi, Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes may have flown under the radar somewhat, but his performances on PSGs left flank quickly drew plenty of attention. With blistering pace, phenomenal ball control and an attacking mindset, the 19-years-old has given Spain international stiff competition for a starting place and made 26 appearances. The fact that PSG have already opted to convert the youngsters loan deal from Sporting into a permanent move speaks volumes about the quality this promising Portugal international.

TchouameniCM AS Monaco - 90 - 95 Rated: Despite a slight adjustment to his role in the team, moving from midfield dynamo to sentinel which took a little while to coalesce, 2021/22 has been a breakout season for Tchouameni. The defensive midfielder is as good as it gets when it comes to stopping attackers, but hes also a strong ball progressor and solid creator. Put that all together at the age of 22, and you have a top-class prospect. A big move is likely in the summer and wherever he lands, his abilities on the pitch will make him an outstanding addition for the new side.

S. FofanaCM RC Lens - 88 - 92 Rated: A sharp and decisive player, the 27-year-old Ivorian has established himself as an indispensable player fo his club and one of the most successful players in the French top flight. Fofana has played a vital role in RC Lenss rise to prominence reaching a top-ten finish in Ligue 1 this season just two years after getting promoted. The Ivorian star has lived up to his early promise, scoring eight goals in 37 games in the 2021/22 campaign and was just recently awarded the 2022 Marc-Vivien Fo Prize for the years best African footballer in Ligue 1.

D. PayetCAM Marseille - 90 - 94 Rated: Dimitri Payet is back at the top of his game thanks to OM coach Jorge Sampaoli and we probably see the best Payet ever this season. The attacking midfielder has been stellar both on and off the field for Marseille this season, despite having to deal with the psychological challenges brought on by repeated attacks by opposing fans. Often mocked for his tendency to put on weight, Payet has maintained his fitness throughout the season and has been crucial in leading Marseille toward Champions League qualification with 12 goals and 10 assists this season.

L. MessiRW Paris SG - 98 - 98 Rated: Yes, he is not longer the Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona and yes, he has only scored six Ligue 1 goals since the start of the season. Compared to his numbers he had at Barcelona, the Argentine has been a shadow of his former self since joining PSG in August 2021 and failed to make the shortlist for the Ligue 1 Player of the Year which Mbapp just recently won but he still managed to score six goals and assist another 13 and wether the Ligue 1 TOTS will be decided via voting or by EA, we can be sure hell be included in the side.

Ben YedderST AS Monaco - 87 - 93 Rated: The Ligue 1 Uber Eats veteran, still just 31, is enjoying his most profilic season ever in France, his 24 goals and five assists playing a key role in Monacos late-season charge for a Champions League finish. Off the bench or as a starter, France international Ben Yedder always brings intensity, focus and above all quality to the table, combining well with strike partner Kevin Volland to run Ligue 1 defences ragged.

K. MbappST Paris SG - 97 - 98 Rated: World footballs brightest prospect just has been named Ligue 1 Uber Eats Player of the Season for the third time in his career and has been the stand-out player in the 2021/22 campaign. At just 23, he already hsa six UNFP trophies to his name and with 25 goals and 17 assists in Ligue 1 at time of writing, Mbapp tops the scorers and assist chart. It could be the out-of-contract superstars last season in France with Real Madrid being heavily interested in him for a transfer in the summer.

H. TraoreRB Stade Rennais FC - 87 - 91 Rated: While players like Terrier and Bourigeaud making headlines nearly every week for Rennes this season in the oustanding campaign and push for a potential Champions League qualification spot finish, Traore is one of the defensive players doing the work. The 30-year-old right-back is the player with the second most assists for Rennes, with 10, and deserves to be included in the side.

NeymarLW Paris SG - 93 - 96 Rated: Another inclusion which will cause discussion but Neymar cant be avoided when we talk about Ligue 1 Team of the Season despite not being on the level he was a yew years ago. Since returning from injury Neymar has hit a good run in firm as the 30-years-old still managed to score 12 goals and assist another six. Performance wise he shouldnt be included but knowing EA they will most likely include him again to make him sell more packs.

M. TerrierLW Stade Rennais FC - 86 - 91 Rated: Martin Terrier is the name on everyones lips in France this season and the face of Rennes success. Young, sharp and full of running, the former Strasbourg and Lyon forward has exploded onto the scene with Bruno Genesios side, scoring oodles of goals and powering Rennes to the upper limits of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats standings. Terrier is now the top-scorer for Champions League-chasing Rennes with 21 goals and he also has 3 assists, crazy that all of them just came within the last 3 games.

A. DelortST OGC Nice - 86 - 91 Rated: Andy Delort may have turned 30 last year but he is still enjoying one of his better season since moving to Nice at the start of the campaign. Galtier made him one of his first few signings since joining the south-east French outfit and is one of the most traveled footballers in the world despite spending the majority of his professional career in Frances top two tiers. Despite OGC Nices poor run of form for a couple of games in march, his 13 goals and two assists are one of the reasons Nice has still a small chance to finish with a top-four placement.

B. KamaraCM Marseille - 87 - 91 Rated: Boubacar Kamara has starred for Olympique Marseille this season, and could be set to play for Senegal at the winter World Cup in Qatar. He has been a cornerstone of Jorge Sampaolis side, who have been Paris Saint-Germains nearest challenger for most of the current Ligue 1 campaign. A 22-year-old defensive midfielder who can also line up at centre-back, Kamara has long been attracting admiring glances from some of Europes biggest clubs. Only club captain Payet and Arsenal loanees William Saliba and Guendouzi have played more minutes among outfield players, and Kamara is a huge part of the reason that Marseille are at least playing Europa league football next season.

B. BourigeaudRW Stade Rennais FC - 86 - 91 Rated: When talking about Rennes, its impossible to ignore Benjamin Bourigeaud. The midfielder is a man on top of his game, sitting third on the Ligue 1 assists charts with 12 assists and helping Rennes currently sitting fourth in the table. At 28, hes playing the best football of his career this season with Rennes, for whom hes turned out nearly 200 times. With 10 goals and 12 assists as mentioned, he has played a major part in Rennes rise in the table and its no wonder that Nice, Roma and Lazio are reportedly keen on signing the attacking midfielder.

M. DembeleST Lyon - 84 - 89 Rated: Lyon forward Moussa Dembele has impressed this season after returning from a disappointing loan spell at Atletico Madrid last season and reportedly he has emerged as a potential transfer target for Manchester United. While Lyon is having a quite poor season for their standarts, Dembele took his game to a higher level, having scored 20 goals so far which is the fourt-most in Ligue 1 and also managed to assist another four.
